Why Use a Cannabis Foot Cream?

Cannabis skincare isn’t just a trend – it’s a botanical revolution. Cannabis-infused topicals are packed with good stuff like antioxidants and anti-inflammatories. They can really help calm irritation, promote skin healing, and add moisture back to even the driest spots. And your feet? Oh love, they need that more than most parts of your body.

What makes a cannabis foot cream so special is how it tackles the root causes of rough, cracked skin. Cannabis-infused grapeseed oil soothes inflammation, relieves pain, and promotes healing, making it perfect for tired toes and scaly heels. Paired with Cocoa Butter and the right active ingredients, you’re not just hydrating – you’re healing. You can also explore the benefits of Oat Oil in Cannabis Skincare for additional soothing properties.

This DIY foot cream is also ideal for those who want plant-based alternatives to heavy, petroleum-based ointments. It soaks in really well, doesn’t leave any greasy residue, and you can even mix in your favourite essential oils. It’s just right for creating your own cannabis skincare routine! Key Benefits of Urea for Feet

Urea might sound a bit fancy, but don’t let that scare you off. It’s actually one of the best ingredients for dry, cracked heels — and yes, it’s totally skin-friendly. The INCI name is Urea, though you might also see it called Carbamide Crystals. It’s something our skin naturally produces, and in a cream, it works two ways:

  • As a humectant, pulling moisture deep into the skin.
  • As a keratolytic, breaking down rough, dead skin so fresh skin can shine through.

This recipe uses 10% urea — the sweet spot. That’s enough to smooth out tough soles and calluses without causing irritation. It helps loosen thick, scaly patches and makes exfoliating feel less of a chore. If your heels are catching on the bedsheets (you know if it’s you!), this is the stuff for you.

This cream, enhanced with CBD-rich cannabis oil and moisturising ingredients, offers deep soothing and skin renewal. You’ll feel the difference in just a few uses.

Cannabis Foot Cream

Making cannabis foot cream at home is easy once you have all the ingredients and tools prepared. You’ll be working in three phases: oil, water, and cool-down.

Equipment You’ll Need:

  • Two heat-safe glass beakers or jars (for oil and water phases)
  • A small saucepan or double boiler
  • Digital scales (preferably 0.01g accurate)
  • Digital thermometer
  • Stick blender / immersion blender for emulsifying
  • Sanitised mixing spatula or spoon
  • Empty jars for finished cream (clean and dry)

You can read more about the tools and equipment I work with.

Formulation:

Stage 1: Oil Phase (Heat to 70–75°C)

  • 14% Cannabis-Infused Grapeseed Oil

  • 5% Cocoa Butter

  • 5% Montanov™ 202

Stage 2: Water Phase (Heat to 70–75°C)

  • 44% Boiling Distilled Water

  • 10% Urea Crystals

  • 5% Vegetable Glycerin

  • 0.5% Xanthan Gum

Stage 3: Cool-Down Phase (Below 40°C)

  • 10% Distilled Water

  • 4.5% Niacinamide

  • 1% Saliguard® PCG

  • 1% Essential Oil of your choice

Total: 100%

Method:

  1. Heat Stage 1 (Oil Phase):
Combine the cannabis-infused Grapeseed oil, Cocoa Butter, and Montanov™ 202 in a heat-resistant glass beaker. Gently heat to above 75°C in a double boiler setup.

  2. Heat Stage 2 (Water Phase):
In the second heat-resistant glass beaker, combine boiling distilled water and Urea Crystals to dissolve. Separately, mix the Glycerin and Xanthan Gum to make a paste. Once the urea crystals have dissolved in the water, stir this paste in and stir until smooth. Heat this to the same temperature (above 75°C).

  3. Combine Phases:
Once both parts are at the right temperature, slowly mix the water part into the oil part while using a stick blender / immersion blender to blend it all together. Blend for 30 seconds with the blender held still at the bottom of the jar – no bobbing up and down, as that puts air into it.

  4. Cool to Below 40°C:
Remove the blender and take the glass out of the double boiler and let the mixture cool a little. You can gently stir it as it thickens – it’ll become more lotion-like as it cools.

  5. Add Cool-Down Ingredients (Stage 3):
Combine the Niacinamide with the water until the powder is fully dissolved. Then add the preservative and essential oils. Mix thoroughly but gently, with no air bubbles.

  6. Jar It Up:
Spoon or pipe your cream into clean, dry jars. Label with the name and date.

Let it set fully at room temperature overnight before first use. The texture will thicken as it rests, giving you a beautiful, creamy finish.

Storage and Use

Once your cannabis foot cream is fully cooled and jarred, it’s ready to work its magic. Store it in a clean, airtight container away from direct sunlight and heat. Saliguard is a broad-spectrum preservative that can last up to 12 months. Use clean fingers or a spatula to prevent contamination.

Apply a small amount to clean, dry feet, preferably after a bath or shower when the skin is slightly damp. Focus on heels, soles, and any hard skin. For a deep treatment, just slather it on and throw on some cotton socks before bed. You’ll wake up to feet that feel remarkably softer and smoother.

And here’s a little bonus: this cream isn’t just for your tootsies. After you’ve rubbed it into your feet, massage the excess into your hands. CBD, Urea, and Niacinamide together effectively treat dry, chapped hands, particularly for those who wash their hands often or have cracked knuckles.

Ingredient Spotlight

Grapeseed Oil

Lightweight, fast-absorbing, and rich in antioxidants, Grapeseed oil is the perfect base for this cannabis foot cream. It’s packed with Linoleic acid, which is great for strengthening your skin barrier, keeping moisture in, and soothing inflammation. All of this is super important for those rough, dry feet!

Because it’s so easily absorbed, grapeseed oil acts as an excellent carrier for CBD and other cannabis compounds. After completing the decarboxylation process, the infusion effectively delivers those potent active ingredients directly into your skin. This helps calm, heal, and protect those tired feet and cracked heels. *Buy Grapeseed oil here (*paid link)

Cocoa Butter

Rich, velvety, and naturally nourishing, Cocoa Butter gives this cannabis foot cream its indulgent texture and deeply moisturising power. It’s packed with essential fatty acids and vitamin E, which help bring back that elasticity, make thick skin feel softer, and create a nice barrier to keep moisture in.

Cocoa butter really shines when you use it with Urea and CBD. It helps lock in moisture right after your skin has been exfoliated and refreshed. Its natural chocolate scent provides a warm base for any essential oil blend. *Buy Cocoa Butter here (*paid link)

Montanov™ 202

Montanov™ 202 is a natural, eco-certified emulsifier derived from sugar and coconut. It brings together cannabis-infused oil and water to create a smooth, velvety cream that feels amazing on your skin. It’s rich but doesn’t feel greasy at all.

Montanov™ 202 is special because it creates a liquid crystal structure similar to our skin’s natural lipid barrier. This helps keep your skin hydrated, prevents moisture loss, and allows beneficial ingredients like Urea, Niacinamide, and Cannabis to penetrate deeper for better results.

It makes the cream feel nice and smooth, like satin, which is perfect for your hands and feet. Plus, it absorbs really well without leaving any sticky residue. *Buy Montanov™ 202 here (*paid link)

Distilled Water

Water may seem like the simplest ingredient, but in a well-formulated cream, it plays a crucial role. This formula uses distilled water as the main ingredient to hydrate and enhance the effectiveness of humectants like Urea and Glycerin.

But here’s the thing: not all water is created equal. Tap water often contains minerals, chlorine, or microbial contaminants that can interfere with both your emulsifier and your preservative system. Even mineral water, while fancy-sounding, can throw off the pH or destabilise the formulation over time.

That’s why I use distilled water – it’s pure, consistent, and keeps your cannabis foot cream safe, stable, and skin-friendly. No surprises, no contamination, just clean hydration for your tired soles and cracked heels.

Urea Crystals

Urea is the star active in this formula, and for good reason. A 10% urea concentration acts as a keratolytic, softening and breaking down thick skin, while also moisturising by attracting water. That means it not only smooths dry, cracked heels – it keeps them soft and supple over time.

In this cannabis foot cream, Urea partners beautifully with Grapeseed oil and Niacinamide to encourage gentle exfoliation without irritation. It helps get rid of those dead skin cells, letting fresh and healthy skin come through. This is just what your feet need if they’re feeling rough, calloused, or if they seem like they could sand a piece of furniture!

When you combine CBD with urea, it can really help heal the skin barrier and reduce inflammation. This combo is perfect for anyone dealing with super dry, cracked, or sensitive feet.*Buy Urea Crystals here (*paid link)

Glycerin

Glycerin doesn’t get enough love, but honestly, this clear liquid is one of the best moisturisers out there in skincare. I only use Vegetable Glycerin as the more commonly available Glycerin is sourced from the abattoir. Vegetable Glycerin is a really great moisturiser because it pulls water into your skin, both from inside and from the foot cream you’re using. This helps keep your feet feeling hydrated long after you put it on. Here, Glycerin and Urea work together to soften, hydrate, and smooth rough heels – a powerful combo for tired feet.

It works really well with almost any other ingredient, making the cream smoother and easier to spread. It also stops the Xanthan Gum from going lumpy. And if you’re massaging this into your hands as well, you’ll really feel that hydrating difference within minutes. *Buy Glycerin here (*paid link)

Xanthan Gum

You have probably eaten Xanthan Gum several times this week! It’s added to breads, pastries, sauces, and many other commercial foods. It’s actually a natural thickener and stabiliser made by fermenting sugars. In this cannabis foot cream, Xanthan Gum is super important for making it feel smooth and nice. You won’t have to worry about it being runny or separating – it just goes on your skin really nicely.

It makes it easier to spread the active ingredients all around in the cream and gives it a nice feel without being sticky or greasy. Adding a bit of Xanthan Gum makes it easier to spread the cream, so you don’t need a lot. It’s perfect for rubbing into dry heels or letting it absorb into your hands for extra softness. *Buy Xanthan Gum here (*paid link)

Niacinamide

Niacinamide, or vitamin B3, is a real gem for taking care of your skin. It works wonders for repairing, hydrating, and supporting your skin’s barrier. This is especially true for your feet if they’re feeling dry, cracked, or irritated. Your feet will definitely appreciate it!

This cannabis foot cream’s Niacinamide enhances skin resilience, reduces redness, and aids healing, especially when combined with CBD and Urea. It prevents water loss from the skin and boosts ceramide production, strengthening the skin’s protective layer.

It’s gentle, calming, and perfect for skin that’s taken a battering from long walks, hard floors, or just daily wear and tear. You’ll start to notice fewer cracks, less irritation, and a more even tone with regular use. If you’re putting cream on your hands too, Niacinamide is great for battling environmental damage and can help keep those signs of ageing away. *Buy Niacinamide here (*paid link)

Saliguard® PCG

When you’re working with water-based creams like this one, a broad-spectrum preservative isn’t optional – it’s vital. Without it, your cannabis foot cream could develop mould, yeast, and bacteria, which nobody wants to apply to their heels.

This formula uses 1% Saliguard® PCG, which is enough to keep the cream stable and safe for daily use. I often use Saliguard PC because it’s compatible with differing pH formulas and plays nicely with Urea and Niacinamide. *Buy Saliguard® PCG here *(paid link)

Essential Oils

This is where you get to personalise your cannabis foot cream with scent and extra skin-soothing power. When you’re using just 1% essential oils, you really don’t need a lot. It’s best to keep the percentage low and use less, especially if your skin is sensitive or easily irritated.

For feet that are tired, cracked, or sore, I recommend choosing essential oils that are antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and calming. Here are a few favourites to consider:

  • Tea Tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia)
Antifungal, antibacterial, and excellent for fighting off athlete’s foot or odour-causing microbes. It has a strong, earthy smell that’s almost like fresh herbs. *Buy Tea Tree essential oil here (*paid link)
  • Peppermint (Mentha Piperita)
Infuses a refreshing coolness to relieve hot, aching feet. Great for circulation and swelling – but go light, as it can be intense. *Buy Peppermint essential oil here (*paid link)
  • Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis)
Offers soothing and stimulating effects, improves circulation, and can reduce fluid retention and swelling in the feet. *Buy Rosemary essential oil here (*paid link)
  • Myrrh (Commiphora Myrrha)
Has antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and healing properties, beneficial for cracked skin and overall foot skin health. *Buy Myrrh essential oil here (*paid link)
